Conscious breathing helps quieten the noise in our minds, provides increased clarity and can quickly calm us down.
The following breathing technique by Thich Nhat Hanh is simple and very effective:
- As you slowly breathe in repeat the following words to yourself: “Breathing in, I calm body and mind.”
- Pause for a second and as you breathe out, smile and repeat the following words to yourself: “Breathing out, I smile.”
Repeat multiple times.
