Perfectionism As The Cause Of Procrastination

Sometimes it is our perfectionist tendencies that causes us to procrastinate.

We know a task is going to take a lot of energy for us to complete as we will try and ensure everything is absolutely perfect. But this takes time and energy and deep down we also know that perfection doesn’t actually exist. Ultimately we fear not doing the task correctly.

So rather than start the task, we just procrastinate. In a nutshell, its our perfectionism that is the cause of our procrastination.

“Perfectionism and procrastination have such a fine line. You say, “Well I want it to be good. I want to be perfect.” But what you’re really doing is not doing your work. You’re putting off showing up and being visible because then you’re going to be judged, and it might suck.”
