Breaking Bad…Habits

It’s difficult to break bad habits. There we are having read numerous self help books, listened to the top wellness podcasts and watched countless motivational vidoes but has our life changed anything?

Are we still defaulting to bad behaviours? Have we changed our self-limiting beliefs?

More often than not we haven’t. But why?

“I know what I need to change. I know what is causing my unhappiness.”

This is true to some extent. The creative side of our brain (the conscious side) has obtained all the knowledge of how we can change or habits but our subconscious mind doesn’t learn in the same way.

And its our subconsious mind that we need to re-program.

Our thoughts are mainly controlled by our subconscious, which is largely formed before the age of 6, and you cannot change the subconscious mind by just thinking about it. That’s why the power of positive thinking will not work for most people. The subconscious mind is like a tape player. Until you change the tape, it will not change.

So how do we re-program the subconsious mind to reflect the desires and intentions that we hold consciously?
