It is easy to get caught in the drama of the ego in ourselves and others. One comment or action can trigger a volatile reaction in us so quickly.
In family life in particular, the ego is us knows how to push each others buttons. It knows how to make a mark and a jab at others at just the right time to maximise suffering.
Become aware of the ego. Understand how it works. Don’t take the actions of the ego in others personally.
“Nonreaction to the ego in others is one of the most effective ways not only of going beyond ego in yourself but also of dissolving the collective human ego. But you can only be in a state of nonreactor if you can recognize someone’s behavior as coming from the ego, as being an expression of the collective human dysfunction. When you realize it’s not personal, there is no longer a compulsion to react as if it were.”
Eckhart Tolle
