We are conditioned to believe that our lives are defined by big moments, and that our experience of these big moments is what defines our happiness.
This is not true.
You are not defined by what presents you recieved on your 21st birthday, by how many guests you had on your wedding day, or by the size and cost of your brand new house.
You are none of these things.
Life is about appreciating the small simple things. Being grateful for having a bed to sleep in at night, for having loved ones around you, for having food in your belly.
Enjoy the material world for what it is but remember not to seek your identity from it.
Be grateful for your body. Be grateful for your breathe. Be grateful for the simple things.
The simple things in life are also the most extraordinary things and only the wise can see them.
