If We Drop Our Fear

Let’s face it, in this chaotic world we all regularly feel ‘fear’ in the form of unease, worry, anxiety, nervousness, tension, dread, and phobia’s. But the truth is that this ‘fear’ is just a psychological condition which isn’t based on much reality or immeditate danger.

It is best explained by Eckhart Tolle when he says that “this kind of psychological fear is always of something that might happen, not of something that is happening now. You are in the here and now, while your mind is in the future. This creates an anxiety gap.”

So as long as you are identified with your mind, the ego runs your life. The ego (mind-made self) constantly sends your body the message of danger (I am under threat) and the emotion generated from this continous message is of course ‘fear.’ Therefore, if we are identified with the egoic mind, fear will be a constant companion.

Then I ask, if we drop our fear by living in the present moment what would life be really like?

If we drop our fear of what people think, how free would we feel?

If we drop our fear of failing, how much would we achieve?

If we drop our fear of looking foolish, how creative would we be?

If we drop our fear of being hurt, how healthy would our relationships be?

It is worth finding out.
