Would You Rather

For the rest of your life would you rather:

A) Be free to choose how to use your time?

OR

B) Be busy trying to make money?

While it may not seem it, the choice is stark.

A) allows you to live life in the now. To enjoy the splendor of all around you. Friends and family become the priority. Space opens up to follow your passions. You see things as they really are. Gratitute flows. Peace and contenment enters your life.

While B) is looking for happiness in the future. Not living in now. “When I have X amount in the bank account, I will be happy. When I get the big house, I can enjoy life then. I have to save money for retirement so I can finally have some freedom. I can’t do it now. I have to work late or it will look bad if I leave on time. I need that promotion. I haven’t time to get home to my family early today. All this sacrifice will be worth it.”

The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, he said:

“Man.
Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
