Procrastination

“Procrastination is the act of delaying or postponing a task or set of tasks.”

Why do we even procastinate? It doesn’t make any sense that we do it. It only holds us back. It makes us feel bad and in the end, all it does is cause more suffering.

Procrastination is the one of biggest things holding us back from living a happy and fulfilled life. But what causes it? Is it a fear of failure and how do we break free from it?

I truly believe that high performing individuals in life, politics, business and sport are guided from a place of more clarity and less procrastination. i.e. They are following their intuition and avoiding the pitfall of over-rationalising.

Q. How do we get more clarity?
A. Meditation.
Q. What causes us to procastinate?
A. Identifying with our thoughts.
Q. How do we stop identifying with our thoughts?
A. Meditation.
Q. BUT what if we procrastinate about Meditation? (Which I do…all the time. It’s almost a viscious cycle.)
A. Just take 1 deep breathe (Do it).
Q. Okay, done that?
A. Now, take 2 more and this time repeat this to yourself as you breathe in “Breathing in, I calm body and mind.” As you breathe out repeat this to yourself, “Breathing out, I smile.”

You’ve just meditated. You are one step closer to achieving the action you want to achieve. Return to this simple meditation when you need to. You will get there.
